Contact ScrollRot support
For product, subscription, privacy, or App Store support, email thescrollrotapp@gmail.com.
Include your iOS version, device model, ScrollRot version, what Settings shows for Subscription, Screen Time access, Camera, and Notifications, and the steps that led to the problem. Do not send the names of the apps you protect, your Screen Time selections, Apple Account details, or screenshots that reveal private information.
Finish first setup
- Open ScrollRot and continue through the welcome screens.
- Allow Screen Time access when iOS asks. ScrollRot cannot lock anything without it.
- Pick the apps, categories, or sites you want to limit.
- Choose your shared daily allowance (from 0 minutes, where every minute is earned, up to 180 minutes), and optionally set quiet hours.
- Choose your earn-time settings — preferred exercise and reps per unlock — and allow camera access so ScrollRot can count your reps.
- Allow notifications if you want reminders about your remaining time.
- Subscribe to ScrollRot Premium. Protection only runs while you're subscribed.
Apps are not locking
- Open Settings and confirm Screen Time access is on.
- Confirm Subscription is active. Protection only runs while ScrollRot Premium is active.
- If you recently revoked and re-granted Screen Time access, iOS forgets your picked apps — open Rules and pick them again.
- ScrollRot can lock at most 50 individually selected apps at once. If you protect more than that, pick a category instead of individual apps.
Rep counting tips
- Squats: stand your phone up at waist height, screen facing you, and step back about 2 meters (6–7 feet) until your hips and knees show.
- Push-ups: stand your phone on the floor, screen facing you, and get into position side-on, about 1.5 meters (5 feet) away.
- Use good, even lighting so the camera can see you clearly.
- Check that ScrollRot's Settings shows Camera as On. ScrollRot cannot count reps without camera access.
- Turn on Count reps out loud in Settings if you want ScrollRot to count aloud as you move.
Earning time and the lock screen
When a picked app is locked, iOS shows a lock screen with the app's name, the reason it's locked, and how many reps buy how many minutes.
- On iOS 26.5 and later, tap Earn [N] minutes to open ScrollRot's movement screen directly.
- On earlier iOS versions, tap Earn time in ScrollRot, then tap the notification it sends to open the movement screen.
- You choose how many reps buy how many minutes in Rules (minutes per unlock: 5, 10, 15, 20, or 30; reps: 5–50 push-ups or 10–100 squats).
- If Rising price is on (the default), each unlock after your first that day costs 50% more reps, up to 3 times the base amount. Turn it off in Rules if you don't want this.
- While earned time is running, you can do another set to add more minutes.
Rules and settings while locked
While your picked apps are locked, the Rules tab, Turn protection off, and Erase all ScrollRot data are frozen and cannot be changed. Earn time to unfreeze them. Voice counting and your preferred exercise stay editable at any time.
Notifications
Open Settings → Notifications to review local notification access. ScrollRot may send:
- a reminder when you have 5 minutes left today;
- an alert when your daily limit is reached;
- a reminder when you have 1 minute left of earned time;
- on older iOS, a "tap to earn time" notification from the lock screen.
Notifications are optional and local only — ScrollRot does not use a push server. You can turn them on or off in Settings or in iOS Settings.
Subscription help
- Use Restore on the paywall after reinstalling or changing devices.
- Use Settings → Manage subscription to change or cancel a plan with Apple.
- Confirm the device uses the Apple Account that made the purchase.
- Pending, refunded, revoked, or unverified transactions cannot unlock premium access.
- If your subscription lapses, protection turns off and your picked apps open again.
Apple handles billing and refunds. Manage an active subscription in Apple's subscription settings. For a charge or refund request, use reportaproblem.apple.com.
Erase local data
Open Settings and, under Start over, tap Erase all ScrollRot data. This stops protection, lifts every lock, and deletes your rules and activity history. It is disabled while your apps are locked — earn time first, or wait until they open again.
Erasing local data does not cancel your Apple subscription; use Settings → Manage subscription for that. See the Privacy Policy for complete information about local data, camera use, and support correspondence.
